Three days after our initial appointment at the fertility clinic and we received our first, of probably many, bills.
It looks like there are lots of hidden extras that are going to cost us money. The first is the SA that the husband had done, the second will be for the 3d scan and blood tests scheduled at the end of the month. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate not having to pay for the actual cycle but it would have been nice to have been told on Monday that we would be receiving a bill for the SA and that the scan is going to cost. The lovely IVF doctor has already lost a couple of marks and we haven't even started!

Really? That's bizarre. I thought the IVF was an all or nothing thing (except for prescription charges). Will have to check that out at my appointment, thanks for the heads up.
It always seems there are more hidden fees that we realize! We are part of our clinics "shared risk" program and I thought writing them a check for $15K covered us for everything but meds ~ ha! Always some way for them to get more money out of us :)
Thanks for the award. I took a LOA for a couple of weeks and need to get caught up. Glad to hear you are doing well and the ball is rolling. Stay positive!
I'm very surprised. I too thought it was 'all or nothing'. And I'm very annoyed they didn't warn you before-hand. Argh.
Look into it a bit more babe...Im ivf on nhs and havent paid a single penny and my final appt was today. All tests done and results given out.....4 or maybe 5 sperm samples so far..all blood tests done, and now just waiting to get our wedding and honeymoon past us before we start the cycle - No cost ! xx
And the HFEA fee - something random, like £117.87. It's non-negotiable. It's also almost ALWAYS a surprise.
